Syllabus
Math 1 AC

Math 1AC: In this class we will begin work with more advanced algebra. We will be building on concepts you already know by working with linear functions and inequalities, exponential functions, quadratics, and polynomials.
Expectations: I expect every student to walk into the classroom each day ready to do his or her best. I expect that you will be successful because you will be working hard. If you have a goal grade in mind, let me know early on so we can work together towards this for you.
Homework: Homework will be assigned and checked daily. Homework grades of 3, 2, 1, and 0 (3 being the highest, 0 the lowest) will be given daily when I check over it in class. After your first “0” on homework, every successive “0” will result in an academic conditional. Homework is about looking back on what we have learned in the past few days and at least trying EVERY problem. You can still receive a “3” even if every problem is not correct, as long as the work is neat and shown for each problem. Do not skip questions just because you don’t know how to do them, go back, look at your notes, and write out what you do know. About once a week, I will assign problems we have already done for homework to be turned into me and graded. These problems all need to be re-copied onto one sheet of paper and corrected before they are handed in to me. You will be able to find weekly homework on my website.

* Notebook Paper (looseleaf)
* Graph Paper
* A Homework/Daily Planner
* Textbook
* Pencils
* Graphing Calculator
Closing Thought: Please contact or come see me BEFORE problems arise with your work in this class. We can work together on bringing your grade up if you come to me far enough before the end of the quarter. This means as soon as you receive a few grades you don’t like, come talk to me. Do not wait until the week before grades close to ask me if there is any extra credit you can do! Part of middle school is learning responsibility and I expect each of you to take charge of this part of your life. I am willing to help you out if you put in the extra effort, but it has to be done in a responsible manner. You are all aware that this class will move at a fast pace. Come see me if it is too fast, I want to help you catch up during tutorial or after school, either way, I need to know.
